Itinerary

  • Day 01 - Hong Kong / Bangkok
    Fly Hong Kong / Bangkok CX 751 1425/1610 (2hr 45min) – Daily
      Or CX 703 1710/1900 (2hr 50min) – Except Tue/Wed/Thu/Sun


    Upon arrival, check into your hotel.

  • Day 02 - Bangkok / Paro / Thimphu
    Fly Bangkok / Paro KB 129 0445/0700 (3hr 15min) – Thu only
      Or KB 127 0650/0950 (4hr 15min) – Except Thu via Bagdogra

     

    Drive to the BBS Tower Viewpoint for a stunning view of the valley before visiting the Takin Preserve to see the national animal of Bhutan- Takin. Head off to the Changlingmithang National Stadium for an archery shoot-out!

    Brush shoulders with the everyday Bhutanese at the Centenary Farmers Market and the craft bazaar. Take a tour of the National Institute of Traditional Medicine and Folk Heritage.

  • Day 03 - Thimphu / Punakha

    Drive about 3 hours to Punakha.

    Climb up the mountain road to Dochu La at 3140m. On a clear day, the pass commands a wonderful panorama of the Eastern Himalayas. Descend through varied forest and finally emerging into the cultivated valley of Punakha.

    Hike through beautiful rice fields to Chimmi Lhakhang Temple. In the afternoon, visit Punakha Dzong located at theconfluence of the Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River).

  • Day 04 - Punakha / Gangtey / Punakha

    Drive about 3.5 hours to Gangtey Goemba. Take a 1.5 hours nature trail from the monastery through the jungle before emerging on the valley floor. Phobjikha Valley is also the last winter grounds of the black necked cranes that migrate from the Tibetan plateau mid-October to March.

    Note: Rainy weather could increasing driving time to 4.5 hours per way. Wangdue Town is a closer alternative.

  • Day 05 - Punakha / Paro

    Visit a stunning hill-top nunnery- Sangchen Dorji Lhundrup Chholing dedicated to the bodhisattva of compassion (Avaloketeshvara). Re-cross Dochu La and enjoy a picturesque picnic lunch enroute. Arrive Paro and enjoy your afternoon at leisure.

  • Day 06 - Paro

    Hike off the beaten path to the 15th century Zurig Lhakhang above Paro Dzong overlooking the valley.

    Enroute, visit the iconic 17th century Paro Rinpung Dzong and descend to Drukgyel Dzong. Picnic amidst the ruins then head off for a game of archery and dart.

  • Day 07 - Paro

    Set on a vertical cliff face, the Taktshang Monastery defies all engineering logic. Hike up for a dramatic view or choose to take a pony ride that can be arranged at an additional cost.

    Visit Kyichu Lhakang and enjoy a home-cooked dinner in a farmhouse for that authentic Bhutanese experience!

  • Day 08 - Paro / Bangkok / Hong Kong
    After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
