Itinerary

  • Day 00/01 - Hong Kong / Cape Town
    Fly Hong Kong / Johannesburg CX 749 2355/0635+1 – Daily (12h40m)
      Johannesburg / Cape Town CX 7315 0925/1135 – Daily (2h10m)

     

    Start the day with a tour of the “The Mother City” on a guided walking tour with your specialist guide. Your guide will bring you into the dramatic history of Cape Town through highlights of the historic Old City. 

    Take a cable car ride up to the most striking landmark, Table Mountain (weather permitting) and enjoy a sensational view of the city bowls.

    Be transferred to your hotel located within the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and the rest of the evening is free to explore the waterfront area which offers sophisticated harbour side eating, drinking, shopping and staged events.

  • Day 02 - Cape Town – Cape Peninsula

    Enjoy a day out of Cape Town and relish the best of the Cape Peninsula. Drive to the False Bay, get on a cruise trip to Duiker Island, the Seal Colony. At the southern tip of African continent, take the funicular railway up to the lighthouse for a breath-taking view of South Atlantic Ocean!

    After lunch, make a stop at the home of the famous jackass penguins at Boulders Beach. Before returning to the city, enjoy a stroll through Kirtenbosch Botanical Gardens.

  • Day 03 - Cape Town

    This morning, you have 2 options of activities to explore the hidden side of Cape Town.

    Option 1: Horse riding with picnic lunch
    Option 2: Table Bay Food Foraging Tour

    This afternoon, you will meet your expedition team for a safety briefing.

  • Day 04 - Cape Town / Antarctica – Whichaway Camp

    On the 5.5hrs flight from Cape Town, you will pass into the Antarctic Circle. As the plane taxis to a standstill, you will be able to count yourself as one of the few who have ever set foot on Antarctica.

  • Day 05 - Antarctica

    Settle into Whichaway Camp and do as much or as little as you like each day. Explore your surroundings, and get to know your group. Activities range from gentle treks out to the incredible ice waves, to kite-skiing, ice climbing and even abseiling into crevasses!

  • Day 06 - Atka Bay Emperor Penguin Colony

    Today, fly across the high polar plateau to an Atka Bay Emperor Penguin Colony, home to over 6000 birds and their chicks. You will have the pleasure of filming, or capturing your very own ‘March of the Penguins’.

  • Day 07 - Antarctica

    Today you will get to explore the ice waves beneath the camp, delving into the series of ice tunnels that are as surreal as they are beautiful. You’ll want to photograph every moment of this experience, but remember to take it in without looking through the lens of your camera! The day ends with a visit to the nearby Russian science base to learn more about their work, followed by a sauna.

  • Day 08 - Fly to South Pole

    Leave early on the morning for the 7 hour flight to the South Pole. At the South Pole itself, you will have lots of time for photos, a tour around the base and a chance to visit the souvenir shop before camping down for the night.

    ** South Pole is situated at an apparent altitude of 4,000m with an approximate ambient temperature of -25 C.

  • Day 09 - Return to Whichaway Camp

    After a night spent camping, you will be given a hearty breakfast, before boarding the plane once again for the 7 hour flight back to Whichaway camp. Return to camp for a three-course dinner and some champagne to celebrate your achievement.

  • Day 10 - Antarctica

    Today is an easier day with talks from the polar explorer staff and guides about some of the lesser known history of Antarctica and their world record breaking expeditions. Then, it’s time for kite-skiing around camp, followed by a giant abseil off the nearby Nunatak mountain.

  • Day 11 - Antarctica / Cape Town

    The flight out of Antarctica will be the last of your unforgettable Antarctic memories before you delve back into the noise and heat of Africa. You will be transferred to your hotel where you will have a chance to relax in a hot bath and think back to your Antarctic adventure!

  • Day 12 - Cape Town / Hong Kong

    After breakfast, transfer to airport for your flight back home.
